Who is afraid of Ngilari?
Since the coming back of democracy in 1999, Adamawa State has accepted Various forms of impositions by those presiding over the political space. They have never fail to bring up anointed candidates of their choice, most often, against the collective desire of the larger population.
In 1999, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, like a magical trick out of a hat, brought up Boni Haruna from no where. Mr . Haruna went to become Governor for eight years.
During the two terms that Boni held sway, Atiku Abubakar never saw, nor believed criticisms against the State Governor. And the words of Atiku was golden while they lasted in power.
It was widely alleged that Atiku initially built his famous African University (AUN) with Adamawa State resources.
After Boni came Nyako in 2007. Murtala Nyako's emergence was premised on the need, at that time, to securely put a lid over Atiku's overbearing political influence in the State. This feat was ochestrated by no other person but Professor Jibrin Aminu.
Nyako's imposition was also, at that time, seemed wise because he was older and could not be swayed by pecuniary motives. He was one time Governor and had connection to retired and serving military top brass across the country.
Unfortunately for those who brought Nyako to power, he eventually dumped them in the murky waters of politics.
The same political power bloc saw to the disgraceful impeachment of Nyako and the imposition of Fintiri through a civilian coup.
As a history student, Fintiri quickly saw through their usual antics and tried to be wiser. The rest is history now.
The court has brought in Ngilari; innocent, lethargic but very cunning.
The current powerful political force in Adamawa lost the proactive Fintiri for their selfish interest thinking that they could at least tame the ever-patient Ngilari. The deal was for him not to contest the 2015 Gubernatorial election.
The only reason circulating, which is yet to be disputed, is the desire to anoint a candidate from the Central zone of the State. This did not go down well with Ngilari and his power base. They argued that the decision by PDP NEC is against Ngilari's constitutional right as a Nigerian citizen. Likewise when the party had the agreement to concede 2015 Gubernatorial seat to Adamawa Central zone, Ngilari was not a party to the agreement hence it is null and void.
Adamawa State has been backward in all the indicators of political, economic and social well being. This is largely attributed to godfathers who meddle in State affairs and do not allow their anointed candidates to work for the benefits of the poor people of the State. Also affecting the performance of the State is the constant bickering of political gladiators.
But why are they afraid of Ngilari? Why won't they allow him to slug it out with other contenders during the primary election?
The PDP posture is undemocratic, bias and seemingly strangulating.
