Richard Branson in Haiti
Mohammed Yunus of the famous Grameen bank, Richard Branson of the wealthy Virgin brand have teamed up with President Bill Clinton to plant over a million trees in Haiti in order to slow down deforestation. This project, according Branson's blog on Google+, is to help create entrepreneurs and provide 200 jobs in the small Haitian country.
Branson was some time in Nigeria to promote the Virgin air Nigeria but some how fell out with the increasing bottle necks of doing business in Nigeria.
The cost of doing business, rise in corruption among Government officials have contributed immensely in the slow expansion of direct foreign investment to Nigeria. Even domestic entrepreneurs have continued to suffer losses because of corruption in Government, abrupt policy changes, and lack of infrastructure that supports the growth of businesses
Grameen bank for instance, have enjoyed wide customer base in Asia and even have a strong presence in New York. This could be replayed in Nigeria and other African countries suffering lack of access to long term capital.
