Barr MB Mustapha most qualified APC National Secretary
A raging pressure has been on to anoint Barrister M.B Mustapha as a substantive National Secretary for the Action Progressive Congress (APC). It would be recalled that M.B Mustapha contested for the post alongside Mai Mala Buni during the last APC elective congress. Mr. Buni has since become theYobe State Governor, leaving the position of the National Secretary vacant, months after the election.
The Yobe State APC caucus have insisted that the post be still reserved for Yobe State. Other contestants to the seat have shown overwhelming reason to challenge the Yobe State position. One of such is the emergence of the Senate President from Yobe. It would be unfair for the other states to be sidelined as Yobe holds both the Senate president and the National Secretary positions.
Taraba state is one of the States that have shown it's displeasure on the way the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is handling the matter. It has insisted that Taraba has never held any national position in the past.
Taraba state has insisted and consistently held that one of their sons had contested the position and was pressured by stakeholders to step aside for Mai Buni at the last minute during the elective congress.
Barrister Mustapha is a loyal member of the APC. He had stood side by side with President Muhammadu Buhari over the year, as well as respected the decisions of elders in the APC as shown in the last Congress. It is only fair and just to pay him back with the National Secretary position.
An ABU student union president, Youth leader for ANPP Buhari campaign organization in 2002, A gubernatorial candidate, and a senate aspirant. Barrister MB Mustapha is the most formidable politician in Taraba North, and one of the best in the whole state.
It is also worthy to note that the Taraba APC have reached out to the various organs of the party; from the National chairman, Adams Oshiomole, the national leader, Bola Tinubu to the NWC. A recent open letter was also written to the President after a long silence from his office.
The Taraba state APC caucus is also worried at the level of silence from His Excellency Mai Mala Buni. Barrister Mustapha had supported him in the past, it is natural to reciprocate this support now. This is the time Mustapha needs him most.
