The Benue killer is connected to Gov.Ortom
N1.4B FOUND IN TERSHAKU'S ACCOUNT
A Nigerian Concord’s top source at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Sunday afternoon confirmed that the N1.4 billion which was found in the account of the detained Governor Samuel Ortom’s special assistant on special security who also doubles as the head of the Benue State Livestock Guards, Mr. Aliyu Tershaku, has been traced to the present government of Benue state.
The source who confirmed that the account is a UBA current account added that it was opened on the name Aliyu Yaminu two years ago.
It was also gathered that the security agency will soon approach the court to seek that the said account be frozen as a result of the security issues around it and its owner.
According to our source, Tershaku didn’t confess that the funds were deposited into the account by the state government but the investigators were able to trace it to the Ortom-led administration during their investigation.
The source also made it known that the Defence Headquarters will soon unravel what the huge funds which were deposited into the account on nine occasions were meant for.
Asked if there was a belief that the funds were meant for weapons procurement, the source said he wouldn’t confirm that until the final result of the Army investigation is out.
He however explained that the suspect has said that he won’t say any word again until he is made to speak with Governor Samuel Ortom.
According to the Nigerian Concord Newspapers, it would be recalled that Tershaku who was wanted by various Nigerian Security agencies in connection with his roles in several terrorist attacks which were carried out by Boko Haram in 2011 was appointed by Governor Samuel Ortom as the Commander of the Benue State Livestock Guards. He was arrested by the Nigerian Security agencies two weeks ago.
He was said to have confessed that it was Honourable Emmanuel Udende who introduced him to Ortom in 2015 as a capable hand to head the state government militants group.
He also told his interrogators that it was true that he is on the state government payroll as an assistant to Governor Ortom on special security. He also confessed that all the weapons which members of the militia group as well as the ones that were found on him during his arrest in Makurdi yesterday were provided for them by the Ortom-led administration.
