It should be recalled that the Senate on Thursday suspended Senator Ovie Omo- Agege (APC), Delta Central, for 90 legislative days. Senator Omo- Agege has also been asked to withdraw his suit against the Senate from the court.
Omo-Agege's suspension has been a series of power tussle between pro-Buhari Senators who felt slighted by tinkering with the sequence of the forthcoming election by the Saraki gang.
Before Omo-Agege's suspension, 9 other Senators had walked out of plenary over the matter of election sequence; Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa West), Abu Ibrahim (Katsina South), late Ali Wakil (Bauchi South), Abdullahi Gumel (Jigawa North West), Umar Kurfi (Katsina Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), Binta Garba Masi (Adamawa North), Andrew Uchendu (Rivers East).
The question is why didn't the Senate suspend the other 9 Senators?
Does the Senate has the power to continue to suspend Senators who have been voted by thousands of their people?
Even though it was wrong to badge into the chamber and confiscate the mace, it is equally wrong to continue to suspend Senators who are against the leadership of the house.
