My thoughts on the Mad Man of Ekiti by Nura Alkali (Dr)
Governor Fayose wrote a letter asking China to deny a $6 billion loan to Nigeria for vital infrasctructure projects. He reportedly re-affirmed that with a China trip, which in reality, was for a trade fair. He has now said "I'm impeachable" in response to a journalist asking if he feared impeachment.
Fayose apparently meant to say "I'm unimpeachable" but English failed the fake Ibadan Polytechnic graduate. Fair enough. English is not our mother-tongue and has failed us on ocassions we call "brain-block". However, many of us also know little about Peter Ayodele Fayose, a violent drug-addict who not only assassinates political rivals but also manhandles his elderly father (who is a pastor) when the situation warrants it.
See a 2005 report of a Commission of Inquiry on Ekiti political violence which recommended to OBJ to have Governor Fayose impeached and prosecuted for complicity. PMB won't have Fayose impeached, but the two and a quarter years remaining of Fayose's tenure will end under the same PMB, who won't say a word when Magu and and Daura are interrogating the rabid scoundrel in their dungeons before his trial.
If you lack time, please read only the last paragraph below and, like me, you will rest your case on this motorpark tout (my apologies to honest NURTW members please) who only became a governor thanks to PDP's misrule of Nigeria and its affinity for violent criminals. To my Ekiti brothers and sisters, I say: perservere, as there is always light at the end of a tunnel.
PETER AYODELE FAYOSE:
He is the incumbent Executive Governor of Ekiti State. He describes himself as strong-hearted and does what he wants to do notwithstanding contrary and superior ideas.
He is said to be a user of hard drugs, which makes him highly unpredictable and may be responsible for his irrational acts.
His relationship with Deputy Governor Abiodun Aluko is at its lowest ebb, (and) culminated in an assassination attempt and an impeachment move against Aluko on May 14, 2005.
About N1.3 billion naira was fraudulently expended on Ekiti poultry project, of which N800 million was fleeced away by Fayose through conduit pipes, such as Biological Concepts Ltd.
Fayose’s potential for violence had manifested through the following incidents;
- The attempted assassination of Taiye Fasuba
- The sponsored protest led by Okondo, a cohort of the Governor, and designed for the recall of Babade (Hon.) at the PDP Secretariat Ikere, culminated into the killing of Muyiwa Adeyanju.
- The incessant raids, attacks and vandalisation of Mobil filling station along Ikere Road, Ado Ekiti.
- Illegal arrest and detention of Joseph Adeleye Orisagbemi, the Atta of Aiyede with a deranged and homicidal criminal at Ado.
- The incessant and sustained media attacks on Rufus A. Aladesanmi III, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti.
- During the by-election into the vacant Federal Constituency seat at Omuo-Ekiti, ballot boxes were seized and gunshots were fired to scare opponents.
- Killing and maiming of students of Ekiti State College of Education, Ikere for daring to protest the planned removal of their provost.
- Attempt on Okebiorun's life over political disagreement.
- The planned attempt to assassinate Afe Babalola (SAN).
- Oluwayose (Pastor), the Governor's father, gave brief in 1995 to Emmanuel Chambers to restrain Ayo Fayose from further assaulting him over a change in his marital status. He put his father in his car's boot (trunk).
