SECURITY: A call to Action

Image
The few distinction between an armed robber and a bandit is described as a "thief with a weapon, especially one belonging to a group that attacks people travelling through the countryside", but the common denominator is that both are thieves and they carry arms. Bandits also attack highbrow areas. The insecurity does not stop only on borderline communities. Last year, thieves attacked my neighborhood and robbed 7 houses unhindered. One year after that, November 2020, they came around again. This time, it was another 9 flats. Why did I mentioned that? These callous people know that we are not secured. The most daunting challenge we have as Nigerians is that we are so divided in almost everything mundane you can think of. To come together and form an alternative security outfit to protect ourselves and our families is a huge task that needs orientation in all of us. Believe me, we couldn't achieve this task, a very simple issue that concerned residents until 2 weeks ago. A...

PASTOR ALLEGEDLY ABDUCTS A MUSLIM GIRL, CONVERTS HER TO CHRISTIANITY

The plight of a Muslim girl, Sadiya Idris, who was stolen by a Kaduna pastor, Reverend Jonah Gangers, has been brought into limelight. Although the case is already in court, the Nigerian Islamic human rights organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has called for a speedy trial and the arrest and prosecution of the accomplices of Rev. Gangers. MURIC made the demand in a statement issued on Friday, 13th November, 2020. MURIC’s press release was signed by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola. The group said, “Sadiya Idris of Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna, was kidnapped in 2013 at the age of eleven by Reverend Jonah Gangers who resides in Barakallahu, Kaduna, and has his church there. The reverend was allegedly aided by a dubious character called Peter. Sadiya was kept against her wish in Rev. Gangers’ house until the suspects felt it was safe enough to move her. “Meanwhile Sadiya’s parents, Mallam Idris and Mallama Rukayya searched everywhere in vain for their missing daughter. The fam...

aleem works with a taxi-hailing service company. He mostly closes late from work, as such gets tired all the time until he discovered the use of energy drinks. Energy drinks are produced to increase mental, physical and energy performance with combinations of caffeine, sugar, amino acids derivative and herbal extracts. Most of these  combined  ingredients contain high level of stimulants that influences alertness. Saleem's favorite is Bullet. For two years he has found solace and needed energy boost in the use of bullet. But lately, instead of increased energy, the drink makes him sleepy and dizzy. Upon careful scrutiny, He found out that for over a year he has been consuming alcohol.  Bullet in black tin is made up of substantial amount of whiskey. The bullet in blue tin is made up of taurine. Experts believe that "taurine in energy drinks is most likely due to the effect it is thought to have on mental and athletic performance. Taurine supplementation has been li...

Don't lose the opportunity

The definition of an opportunity is an favorable situation for a positive outcome. However, some outcomes could be negative, that is why others see it as a "moment if chance". When the Governor of Kaduna State , Malam Nasir El-Rufai wrote his book " The Accidental Public Servant" was he referring his present outcome as  an adjective or a noun? Either way, most sets of outcomes are due to opportunities, which young people must not ignore. A moment of luck, an opening that must not be ignored. What happens if you ignore such chances? I met a lady in a seminar on 'Developing leadership skills'. It is an annual event but that was her first presence. So I asked why she didn't attend last years' seminar? "I don't like going out" was her response. Opportunity doesn't know your address, go out as often as you can to create connections and jobs. Conferences and seminars that are related to self-development and linked to enhancing your caree...

Why is intimidation becoming normalized in Adamawa?

Harassment, intimidation and assault, are becoming normalized by politicians, especially since the coming of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State. A video of an alleged honorable Chairman of local Government in Adamawa State has begun to circulate on social media early afternoon on Saturday. In the video, the honorable was seen moving menacingly, expresing verbal threats, curses and insults towards a man believed to be a motor mechanic. Remember that an Abuja High court had ordered Senator Elisha Abbo (PDP, Adamawa) to pay the sum of N50 million to Ms. Warmate for an assault on her last year in a sex shop. A Magistrate court in the FCT had earlier dismissed the suit for lack of evidence despite a CCTV footage. Lawyers had faulted the judgement of the Magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, saying that instances of simple assault are physical attack, pushing someone or slapping someone in an argument. Others say that assault is the intentional use of force or violence against...
