Tinubu and the absent President
Contrary to the views of many, Lagos State has largely remained a slum despite boasting of consistent urban renewal plan, allegedly coordinated and driven by former Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The said plan was the borne of contention and acrimony between the erstwhile Governor and former Governor Ambode who had refused to bend to Tinubu's overbearing interference in the administration of the state. It was the god-like dominance that led to Ambode's removal for a second term contest. Bola Tinubu had claimed that the Lagos master plan is bigger than anyone, not even a Governor. Any Governor that will not adhere to it must give way. Ambode gave way, however, Lagos city has trailed behind at number 18 on the list of 25 most beautiful cities in Africa and the highest in terms of crime; a legacy of Tinubu no doubt.
